A Summary Of The Samsung 6050 Cartridge
The Samsung ML 6050 printer is marketed towards the budget sector. This device is a perfect replacement for the inkjet. This offering from Samsung has been dominating the market since it was first released. Sold at around $100, this is considered as an entry-level device, although the ML 6050 toner cartridges makes it seem like a 'top gun'.
The machine can churn out 12 pages in a minute. This makes it one of the fastest sub $100 laser printers ever introduced. It also has a 550 sheet paper tray, which makes frequent loading of paper a thing of the past. These are just two of the features that make this device great.
It is powered by a 67 MHz processor and 4 MB of RAM. The memory size is a little disappointing since it bottlenecks the device. You will have a hard time printing heavy graphics because of the limited memory. However, you can upgrade it to a maximum of 68 MB. It uses a 72-pin EDO SIMM, which is very affordable. You might have a hard time finding one, since new laser printers use the 100-pin DIMM rather than the old 72-pin EDO.
The Samsung ML 6050 was able to provide adequate print quality. The text and graphics were fine and subtle. Unfortunately, when we tried using the 1,200 dpi feature, the printer refused to print. We tried experimenting with the Samsung Resolution Enhancement Technology, but it still did not work. We were forced to reduce it to 600 dpi. Like other laser printers, this is best suited for basic printing needs. It is not intended for photo or detail oriented printing.
The package includes a Samsung laser toners that can print 3,000 pages. You can also buy a new one for about $100, which makes each page cost around 3.3 cents. This is a little expensive for a laser printer. If you want to save a lot more money, you can always use the Toner Save feature. This is a great feature if you are printing text documents since it only uses half the amount of toner. A single page can cost 1.65 cents with Toner Save, which is a lot lower than any personal laser printer. Bear in mind this is not recommended for graphic printing since it cause some contrast problems.
The Samsung ML 6050 printer can be connected via a USB or parallel cable. The two ports on the device make sure that everybody will be able to use it. However, it lacks a Ethernet port for networking. If you want the same features plus networking capability, you might want to consider getting the ML 6060 instead.
The machine uses up around 300 watts, which is similar to any personal laser printer. However, when the machine is in an idle state, it only uses up 30 watts. In addition, the device is EPA Energy Star compliant.
It has a standard one-year warranty. Samsung also offers 24/7 technical support over the phone. Additionally, you can get the latest drivers at their website to maximize compatibility.
The Samsung ML 6050 is a great printer if you are on a budget. This inexpensive device outperforms most of its counterparts. The high capacity tray and low printing cost are two main factors that make this product highly recommended. However, if you want a photo printer, you need to consider another model since this is only good for printing documents and spreadsheets.
For the tasks it can perform, the ML 6050 replacement toners offers good value and the clarity and sharpness one would expect with any Samsung ML compatible toners. Finding toner cartridge refill online at the exceptional prices there may be enough to swing the vote for this printer to a yes.
