Dell 1710 - Considering A New Printer? Consider This

by Ben Pate

The Dell 1710 is a well appointed printer, offering workgroup performance in a cost effective way. It is one of the most solid and compact printers available today, boasting great print speeds and a space saving size and design. It is a good and reliable solution for home users and those who want to produce texts and graphics of good quality for their small offices.

Offering impressively fast printings, with up to 26 pages per minute for texts and 5-6 pages per minute for graphics, the 1710 can speed up your work, facilitating and encouraging productivity and providing work of excellent quality. Performance, simplicity and cost effectiveness are actually the three words that characterise the 1710 printer.

The Dell 1710 prints in 1200×1200 resolution and features an amazing monthly print capability, of 15000 pages. If you are a typical and average home user, though, you won't print more than 500-1000 pages per month. This means that you can simply extend the life of your printer and cartridge.

The Dell 1710 comes with a high capacity Dell 1710 toner cartridge, good for approximately 3000 pages. Once it is done, you can opt for the larger one, which can print more than 6000 pages. IF you are a Dell user, you should go for the recycling program introduced by the mother company, since that is a very cost effective solution. The printer comes with a 800 sheet paper capacity, which is impressive for a monochrome printer of this size.

The Dell 1710 Printer comes in the typical Dell colors, Grey and Silver. The setup is easy, especially if you opt for the Ethernet or USB connection. You will soon figure out that accessing the toner cartridge is also quite easy. The standard Dell 1710 Toner cartridges are food for approximately 2500-3000 pages, although you can find larger cartridges, good for 6000 pages or more.

One of the greatest advantages of the Laser Dell 1710 is the effortless setup. Using the USB or Ethernet port you can install the printer almost in no time. The printer is easy to use and the menu is quite comprehensible. Dell usually avoids unnecessary drills and complications, thus, users can find their way easily. The 1710 runs on a 366 MHz Processor and has 16MB of internal memory, which you can upgrade up to 144MB. This is recommended to those who want to speed up the printing of graphics and images. The upgraded memory can speed up the whole procedure up to 5 times.

The 1710 is a high rated printer - and not accidentally. The printed documents are perfect and the graphics are sharp and well appointed. Pictures are not perfect, but that is something expected by a laser monochrome printer. The graphic and image quality is great though if you want to print some newsletters or small scale pictures.
